Bio

I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is also certified in Perinatal Mental Health. As an Advanced Practice Nurse I have worked in the following outpatient practice settings: Community Mental Health (CMH), Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and private practice. I have been a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2016. Nursing is my second career as I worked for many years as a Certified Pharmacy Technician before attending nursing school. My first job as a registered nurse was working with the psychiatrists at a Community Mental Health Center. During this time, I developed a passion for working with individuals with mental health issues. I wanted to help decrease the time that it took from when people requested services to when they were able to see the provider for medication management services, so I continued my education and received my BSN from Spring Arbor University and my MSN from Wayne State University. At Spring Arbor University, I serve as the Assistant Director of the Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program and teach in both the didactic and clinical courses.

Why SAU

I have always loved teaching and mentoring nurses, both in the classroom and in clinical settings. Just as God placed me in a nursing role that soon became my passion, He also opened the door for me to join Spring Arbor University as an adjunct faculty member in the PMHNP program. Having earned my bachelor’s degree from SAU, I knew that returning as faculty would be a natural fit with my values and goals.

Through God’s grace and the support of many wonderful colleagues at SAU, I was blessed to transition into the role of Assistant Director for the PMHNP program. It is truly a blessing to serve at SAU, where I can integrate my faith and my nursing practice while helping shape the next generation of Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
