Online Post-Master's Certificate - NE Program Curriculum

Focuses on application of nursing theory, pathophysiologic, epidemiological, leadership concepts, and exploration of nursing therapies, skills and techniques essential for the nurse educator and administrator to gain advanced knowledge and skill for the direct care of diverse populations. The clinical practicum is arranged with a local preceptor (either a certified NP, physician, PA, or Master’s-prepared nurse in a specialty field) with the approval of the program faculty. Students will complete 125 hours in a direct care setting, and have regular contact with SAU clinical faculty, who also provide oversight of the preceptor-led experience.
Prerequisite: NUR 612, NUR 618, NUR 602, NUR 602R
Familiarizes the student with education theory and philosophy, teaching and learning styles, examples of curriculum design, the process of lesson development, assessment and evaluation, curriculum/program development and scholarship in nursing education.
Investigate the selection and application of instructional strategies for traditional and online learning environments. A variety of approaches for learning experiences in higher education, professional/staff development, and community programs for individuals or groups will be used.
Prerequisite: NUR 625
Focus is to integrate advanced nursing practice, and nursing and adult learning theories with practical teaching situations. Individually supervised field experiences in nursing education settings provide nurse educator students opportunities to strengthen their teaching and patient care delivery skills to the master’s level through content application and immersion to the role of educator. Students will also complete an evidence-based practice project proposal during this course.
Prerequisite: NUR 551, NUR 602, NUR 612, NUR 618, NUR 625, and NUR 635.
To be accepted into the online PMC-NE program, you must meet the following requirements:
- MSN degree from an accredited program
- Official graduate transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended
- 3.0 GPA calculated from the most recent 60 academic credits
- A current nursing license from your state of employment
- Online application
- Short personal statement
